Huoshan Yellow Bud

Other Names:huoshan huangya

Origin & History:Huoshan Yellow bud is a yellow tea from Anhui Province in China, it is the Imperial Tribute Tea and dates back to the Ming Dynasty.

Planting and Processing:It is made of 1-2 tender leaves with one bud picked in late April or early May.

Characteristics:The dry tea leaves have a shiny appearance and are very similar to Huangshan Mao Feng, when steeped the leaves reveal a very peppery and fresh taste accompanied by an unusual green-yellow color of the brew. As with all moslty bud teas the color and fragrance are slight.

Usage:
It may be drunk early in the morning to heighten alertness. It contains theophylline and bound caffeine (sometimes called "theine"), although there are also decaffeinated teas.
